(Overall: B) - Exciting new addition to Jersey City, bringing high quality healthy and heart Chinese comfort food in one. Their noodles are good, and enthused to try the rest of their menu. (Beef Yunnan Crossing Bridge: B) - Healthy comfort food perfect for a chilly day. Tender beef and copious amounts of yuba. Be prepared to eat fast -- the noodles absorb the broth like a sponge. For takeout, beef is packaged with the soup so eat quickly before it overcooks. (Pork Intestine Noodle Soup: B) - Extremely fatty, but rich alternative comfort food. Love the crispiness of the pork intestine contrasting with the tenderness of the pork lard. Bok choy absolutely critical here to cut through fattiness. Skip this if you're concerned for high protein. Food: +1 Presentation: E Price: E Overall: 4 stars Insta/Yelp/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

I ordered: Beef on sticks Braised chicken rice Steamed pot chicken soup Mengzi style special beef noodle soup premium Beef Yunban crossing bridge The food was pretty tasty. The braised chicken rice was my favorite. They soup wasn't bad just needed a little more salt. All in all I had a good experience!

Came here on a Saturday a while back. It was a very cold winter day, so getting some noodle soup dishes to warm up sounded phenomenal. The two of us ended up ordering a bit too much, but that allowed us to try various items on the menu besides their best sellers. We started off with the Yunnan Fried Stuffed Tofu (18 pcs) ($14). It came with a dipping sauce that had an interesting taste. Didn't know what to make of the taste, but I think I preferred without it. Black-Tree Rice w Minced Pork Pepper & Chili ($15) is essentially a bowl of white rice with minced pork on top. They taste really good when you mix it up, but it's probably not something I would order at a restaurant. The Steamed Pot Chicken Soup ($27) tastes similar to a home cooked dish, which is very refreshing. For entrees, we ordered the Sour Cabbage Boiled Fish ($24), which was great for a cold winter day. Of course, we also had to order the Signature Yunnan Crossing Bridge ($22), which is what they're known for. Also great for a cold winter day. Chicken broth is cooked for 4 hours. It is loaded with chicken leg, beef, pork, fish filet, bean sprouts, tofu skin, scallion, chives, and quail eggs. Yes, we ended up having leftovers which lasted several meals, but well worth it!

I finally found my favorite spot for Yunnan style rice noodle soup in NYC!! Loacted near NYU, South of the Clouds is an authentic spot serving up Yunnan specialty dishes. At my first slurp, I was amazed by how delicious and comforting their rice noodles were. I was so tempted to go back and try out all the soup and dry mix mixian. I found they also have a new location in Jersey City. *Little Pot Rice Noodle 小鍋米線 $16.99*** SO GOOD esp for cold days. Topped with minced pork, pickled cabbages and tomato, the little pot rice noodle was served steaming hot in a 8-hour simmered chicken broth. The noodle was silky smooth and flavorful. Don't be deceived by its appearance -- it wasn't as spicy as it looked. *Stir Fried Shredded Beef Rice Noodle w. Green Chili 小椒牛肉絲拌米線 $17.99* It reminded me of the sizzling black pepper beef from cantonese spots. The sauce and green chili pepper gave the noodle a little spicy kick. It came with a good portion of tender beef. *Cold Dish Platter 涼菜滷味拼盤 $13.99* You can customize the platter and this is what I got: braised pig ear, beef shank, cucumber and woodear salad. The pig ear was easily my favorite. *Yunnan Fried Stuffed Tofu 雲南包漿豆腐 $13.99 We were recommended to try this signature starter. The fried tofu was spicy, crispy on the crust and pillowy on the inside. *Yunnan Deep Fried Pork Rib 雲南薄荷炸排骨 $14.99 Another signature hot appetizer. The pork rib was bursting with flavor and I enjoyed the crispy mint. I wish there was no bone though lol. *Steamed Pot Chicken 汽鍋雞 $26.99 Served in a red ceramic pot, steamed pot chicken is a local speciality of Yunnan. The chicken was chopped into pieces, surprisingly tender and juicy.

This Yunnan restaurant is conveniently located near NYU, offering reasonable prices that suit the average budget. We started with the toothpick beef, which is perfect if you like spicy food. The stuffed fried tofu must be dipped in their house sauce for flavor. The smoked pork neck was hands down my mom's favorite appetizer. The fried pork chop with mint has a good chew and my personal fav. Also tried the tomato and beef rice noodle soup, which had a nice tangy kick from the lemon slices. Their signature Crossing-the-Bridge rice noodles feature black silken chicken, slow-brewed for six hours to create a delicate, flavorful broth. To cool down after all the spice, I got the lemon Yakut drink, which was super refreshing w a hint of sparking lemon w a splash of milk. For dessert, the crispy fried milk was a pleasant surprise, don't forget to dip it in the sweet condensed milk. The coconut pudding reminded me of what I would get at a dim sum restaurant. Overall, South of the Clouds is a solid spot for Yunnan cuisine with a good mix of flavors and textures. Would definitely return to try more!

If you are near Greenwich village, you gotta check out Sotc. This Yunnan spot is legit. The dishes look amazing , but they taste even better. They've got so many noodles soup to choose from, but the Yunnan Crossing Bridge Rice Noodles with tender beef is so good. The Dai-style stir fried beef is so flavorful with a slightly spicy. And you gotta try their Steamed Pot Chicken Soup. They made it fresh daily , simmer for long time to ensure the rich and authentic flavors . Highly recommended especially the winter season is coming soon. I never had Yunnan food before and this was a lovely first time! The Signature Yunnan Crossing Bridge is a must-order dish. It is their popular noodle soup dish which comes with so many different toppings including proteins like chicken, pork, beef, and fish. The soup is hot and heartwarming and the noodles are thin and slippery. The stir fried noodles were also really good. We added minced pork to it and it made it even more flavorful. The rice was good, but we definitely liked the noodles more. I would also recommend ordering the beef dish. It's spicy but so tender. The servers were awesome and the inside is spacious and pretty. It feels like sitting inside of a Chinese temple!

To order and I pay I was able to do so from my phone which was really easy! The two soup noodles and fried tofu we got came out quickly. Overall very large portions. The tofu was fried with a light crispy coating and came with a fermented tofu dipping sauce which had a great umami flavor! The noodles had very rich and flavorful broths and was packed meat and veg. We came on a Sunday midafternoon and were seated right away

Quite tasty and really huge serving. As I ate, it felt like the bowl was generating more and more food. I got the beef noodle and it was great! The service at this place is a little disorganized. We tried adding a few items after the initial order and had to pull the waiter aside a few times to ensure that the order actually got fulfilled. The waiter serving us that day also only spoke Chinese. Overall, the restaurant looks decent and would be a good place to catch up with friends.
